20:31Cuộc sống của tôi ở Nhật Bản vào mùa đông 🍜✨ ft. @AbroadinJapan (my life in japan during winter 🍜✨ ft. @AbroadinJapan)
    • good morning i am packing for a little adventure today chris and i are taking the shinkansen up north and we're going to find some proper winter weather because it's been quite warm here in tokyo we feel like we haven't experienced a proper winter yet even though it's february already so i'm gonna finish getting packed up and i will see you guys at tokyo station this is wakaba ryokan we always stay here every time we come to sakata if it's full we'll stay somewhere else but it's always our first choice it's really lovely the staff are so kind they know us yeah oh i've never had this room before it's so character full up you look around there's artwork on the walls like an old sony radio like a some sort of display over here that's cool lots of stuff like there's a garden outside there's a garden and you can sort of sit here these comfortable chairs work while i'm looking in the garden and uh yeah i like it here i feel like i'm home yeah it's super cozy there's a washroom here um some of the rooms don't have their own shower and toilet so be aware of that if you book here there is a public bath that you can use but yeah they've got like a public bath onsen have you ever been in it yeah yeah it's nice yeah what's up here please open yeah i mean i've stayed here like five or six times i should know i've stayed here like 10 12 times but like there's so many details i always miss i like how all the rooms are really different they all look completely different the futon here are super comfy i think that's my favorite part they're really thick i know lots of people are a bit like sleeping on the floor comfortable but the food on here are next level very good they're double layered as well is that why they're really comfy always sleep really well here natsuki's coming to meet up with us in a minute and we are going to probably my favorite place to have dinner here in sakata we go there i think every time we are in town no it's actually um a kushiage izakaya like they're famous for their kushiage i'm not really a fan of kushiage so i never order that but they have really good um deep fried tofu and like a bunch of other side dishes and chris loves the kushiage so it all works out so there's a cat somewhere in this ryokan i haven't seen it yet have you ever seen the cat one time in like five years it must be shy i've been here several times but i've never come across the cat chilly out here it's like the strongest winds ever in sakata today my god sometimes i have to stop the trains here because of the wind yeah i'm scared we're not gonna be able to get back home super wintry wind the food never stops that's cute that's actually that's exactly what it looks like a very accurate drawing it's like yakitori but extremely unhealthy oh they've got chazuke they have some healthy things chris just never gets them okay what do you usually get tori nankotsu which i imagine you don't like no that's a chicken cartilage it took me like two years to like learn to surprise you like that i might get the ume ochazuke and then the agedashi tofu i've never had their ochazuke before they have lots of different rice dishes but as you can see they're massive so i can only really try one each time i come here smells very smells like nori that's like the main flavor i expected it to be more plum i really like the um onsen tamago yeah it came with an egg do you like um sometimes it's too healthy for chris it's just a bit soupy i just it doesn't know what it wants to be ochazuke it's food just that's really good though try that the um the flavor of the plums makes it really like fresh tasting it's not overly sour like you'd expect from an umeboshi it's quite good yeah it's really like i don't know how to say it in english i guess fresh like refreshing refreshing refreshing chris is trying what is it chicken liver deep fried chicken liver deep fried chicken liver natsuki always orders this weirdly natsuki and i usually like the same things although he doesn't eat any fish but i don't like liver so maybe this is good after no more than me more than me better than me more than me you're not making it sound great my agedashi tofu is here chris doesn't want to touch it so it's all mine we've got deep fried tofu seaweed fish flakes and green onions and ginger it's very colorful grated ginger yeah there's lots going on you kind of like mix it all into the broth get the flavors all mixed that's because we've got a special treat so good oh dear oh god the chili powder yeah oh yeah red hot chili peppers oh give it away give it away give it away now i'm gonna if you put more fucking pepper in it i'm gonna have to literally give it away because you're gonna ruin the flavor i've never had a spicy one before let's see natsuki's special original recipe chili pepper he dumped all the chili pepper in and then he scurried off for a cigarette out in front of the shop damage done oh no it's that bad spicy my throat is burning oh it's all right i like chili it's not too bad it's not inedible that's why we don't let natsuki cook the agedashi tofu here is really nice so i recommend it if you come by oh it's very good i'm very full it's deep fried you would love it i'm gonna die all right we are stuffed back to wake up up very stuffed to sleep got a big day tomorrow bye natsuki see you tomorrow hey good weather that's insane look at the snow my god oh nice and warm tasty and warm after the storm so tomorrow we're going to one of my favorite places ever kamo aquarium it is the largest collection of jellyfish in the entire world or jellyfish just jellyfish it works though doesn't it right it's so cool how could that possibly be interesting but it turns out you're gonna love it there's so many ridiculous looking jellyfish that you've never seen in your life and it's lots of fun so i'll see you in the morning good morning we are off to ramen morning ramen in chris's favorite tiny car natsuki replaced the battery for us he did i haven't driven this car in uh eight months i think yeah since the day of the life video i did here just kind of left it with natsuki and he's been using it so that's well he he um he damaged his car so it's good he had this one to drive that's right oh it's so good to be back in this car i love it i don't know what to do in the snow we're about to find out remember you gotta pump the bike when you drive it ah that feels good man i love this car this was the best thousand dollars i've ever spent it was so cheap just arrived at the ramen shop there is a line of people this is probably the most popular ramen shop in sakata there's always a lineup it does open at 11 a.m but um people come here from 10 30 to line up and get their name on the list so we're probably going to be waiting in line a little while so they've got several different flavors of ramen soup i always get the same one they do have soy sauce um salt and then stamina i'm not sure what is stamina just uh it's a lot of collagen here apparently oh and um i always get the salt one it's like a refreshing broth it's not too heavy it's quite light but it's very flavorful the cool thing about this ramen shop is that the noodles also come with wontons so it's ramen and also wonton noodles when i was a teacher the students would always cite this one as their most favorite sort of ramen shop in sakata it's very tasty it's definitely the most famous it's always on i would come to sakata just for this everything about it is 10 out of 10 the broth the noodles the toppings it's so delicious ramen is a winter dish and it's so nice coming in here off the blizzard ridden streets of sakata into the warmth of mangetsu having a nice piping hot bowl of ramen i think i would come here weekly if i lived in sakata i don't even like i do love this ramen there's something about it this is the only ramen that i ever crave i think it's not oily um the broth is really refreshing it doesn't feel too heavy i love the salt flavor and the wontons are fun something about the noodles is different to other ramen i've had i just really like them nice texture not too thick not too thick yeah highly recommend this place i think you guys would love it stuffed off to see some jellyfish i wonder how busy it'll be the last time i was there was in the summer it was packed 100 people in the lineup we are gonna be leaving the kei car with natsuki this afternoon and we're gonna catch the train to get to the aquarium i wanted to show you guys that you don't necessarily need a car to get around sakata the uetsu train line is really convenient for traveling around the area we're going to be catching it from sakata station to tsuruoka station and from there we can either catch a bus that'll bring us directly to the aquarium or you can catch a cab it's about a 20 minute car ride from the station here we are kamo aquarium like we thought quite quiet today crazy weather outside you get a really cool view of the ocean some of the biggest waves we've ever seen yeah from the entrance here you can look out the windows and watch it it's pretty cool i was last here a couple years ago i and they definitely have some new species since the last time i was here so it looks like they're continuously improving it it's so impressive they must have over 100 different types of jellyfish here you'll be really surprised by how weird some of them look they look like little aliens you This section is really cool.

    • Onigiri was only available to noble families in the Heian period, or the samurais, part of the high-ranking social class, who started to eat it as a portable food during wars, by using umeboshi, pickled plum, salt, and miso to preserve the cooked rice, which are still eaten as fillings today.

    • It's very reasonably priced and it's easy to carry since it's sealed Maiko got the natto maki a fermented soybean rice roll fermented beans are also a popular item to eat for breakfast for many women Like Maiko who appreciates those positive benefits for their skin Now it's lunchtime So in a recent study office workers in Japan were asked what they commonly ate for lunch and 45% shared that it was a homemade bento while 22% reported that they ate from the konbini and only 11% said that they dine out in other words when preparing a bento from home is not an option The next best thing is lunch from the konbini also japanese office workers nationwide spent on average 575 yen about four dollars per konbini trip with tokyo salaries and living expense much higher than the country's average though It's probably safe to assume that the amount spent at konbinis in tokyo is also higher Japanese offices normally have break rooms to eat at when office workers are sitting at their desk all day It's sometimes nice to eat outside to get some fresh air So the lunch selection at the convenience store may vary quite a bit between women but in general on a hot summer day like today Cold somen noodles are a popular dish in japan The somen noodles maiko is getting comes with chicken breast wakame seaweed cucumbers chopped umeboshi plum And it's served with a savory dashi based sauce called suyu So For her drink she chooses another popular tea among japanese women which helps reduce fat absorption and moderates sugar absorption There are many products that advertise this in japan But she made sure to choose the one with a tokugou mark on it Which means that it has scientifically proven physiological benefits certified by japan's consumer affairs agency So It's also common to get some sort of sweets as a dessert in japan souffle milk pudding is a popular seller In fact, each konbini company releases their own new sweets each month so that their customers don't get tired of the same item every time Hey guys, I wanted to quickly tell you about my paolo from tokyo premium kaminari hot sauce It's handcrafted exclusively by a small batch producer in japan's niigata prefecture made with an original blend of premium kanzuri Aged six years locally grown carolina reaper and shoyu a lot of love has gone into each bottle And i'm telling you that there's no hot sauce in the world that has this level of umami and fire All in one and it all begins at the base of mount myoko in a process called yuki sadashi Where locally grown red chilies are spread over snow fields to develop their natural umami for over three to four days Forming the foundation of kanzuri's distinctly delicious flavor You can get it at paolo from tokyohotsauce.com or just click on the link below And if you're in japan, I have shops listed on the website such as sukiji fish market fair warning These handcraft bottles are produced in limited batches and we've already sold out once So get it as soon as you can to avoid a one to two month wait Finally dinner So on weekdays 89 of office workers in japan eat at home after work whether it's food purchased from the supermarket konbini or similar type source in general going out to eat in japan is considered a luxury or maybe a treat while eating at Home is a typical way.

    • I love onigiri But look at this It's like chonky Yeah and also they filled the ume Right to the bottom as well Usually rice balls they just have the filling in the middle The rest is just plain rice But this looks like it's all the way through Let's try Oh that's strong That's sour That is sour Mine is good The filling There's so much inside But I love it I love umeboshi Because usually in the convenience store they just put a tiny bit in This is so much flavour But that's amazing Let's try the tamagoyaki maybe Oh wow It's really good So I tried making this and flipping it was really hard I kept breaking it That's my favourite so far That was so good Inari is tofu skin That place is good Wow The rice is flavoured though Let's try the chirashi It's kind of like a rice bowl With a lot of stuff mixed into it Mainly seafood usually So this one has a lot of Little salmon roe Crab cakes Crab cakes, prawns Cucumber Lotus roots Yeah there's a lot of stuff The rice is so good It's actually a lot lighter than I expected You can't even buy this at the convenience store This is really good quality I feel like if this was in a convenience store it would cost more I'm surprised, I'm shook This is the matcha latte You know what, I don't usually like milk in Japan But this is good This is so good The berry down here adds a little bit of sourness to it Which is weird because it's milk But it's really good You're going to love this This is so good Right?

Tôi thích onigiri Nhưng nhìn này Nó trông như chonky Đúng vậy, và họ còn nhồi ume Đến tận đáy nữa Thường thì bánh gạo chỉ có nhân ở giữa Phần còn lại chỉ là gạo trắng Nhưng cái này trông như nhân chạy suốt cả bánh Thử xem nào Ồ, nó mạnh đấy Nó chua đấy Nó
